Would the guy really be able to.... *MAJOR SPOILERS*

Would the pedophile really be able to survive the injuries he suffered? At the end, the dr says "I didn't kill him" and he's being arrested for "attempted" murder. I can't imagine the pedo would live after suffering broken bones, major surgery, and massive blood loss

But he only suffered minor blood loss from the radical castration/penotomy (I'm guessing that's what it would be called). I think that enough time passed that they wouldn't be able to re-attach his genitals (and I would have made him eat them, anyway), plus though they may be able to repair his injured knee, it will probably hurt him for the rest of his life. He may also suffer some very minor scarring from where the chain whipping tore open his skin, though they might only be visible upon very close examination. Besides that, he will be fine on a physical level.

As for emotionally, who knows? Certainly his lawyers will argue that the evidence of his three former victims be withheld from a jury and that he receive a vastly reduced sentence, or perhaps be released without serving any time, due to the "trauma" visited upon him.

All in all, the father should have killed paedophile, as the father will be spending the rest of his life in jail regardless, and will in all likelihood serve a lot longer than the paedophile would even if he served a full sentence.

Here in Australia, the average sentence for paedophiles is only two years per child, and even then these people frequently serve multiple sentences for molestation or rape of children concurrently. This means that an offender may serve only two years for hurting multiple children.

... It is so heart-breakingly obscene!

The father probably wouldn't get that harsh a punishment. I'm sure it would be regarded as temporary insanity or as a crime of passion.

I think that in the United States that would possibly be true, as US citizens can even shoot people who are merely burgling them or trespassing, but I strongly doubt that would happen in Australia (where I live) or in the United Kingdom.

There's a disbarraging saying, "only in America", but there are some areas where we've got it wrong, the the US has it right - this area is one of them.

Copied from IMDB, under goofs:

Speaking as a physician, the blow to the perpetrator's right femur, just above his knee joint was sufficient to fracture the femur. Typically a crush injury or other damaging injury to a person's lower extremities causes a fatal shock. In war these injuries are quickly treated with a blood substitute until the person can be moved into a better care facility. In earlier war like WWII, many lives were salvaged that had been lost before because of shock and death. There, they were saved with the venous infusion of plasma. In later conflicts another infusion might be chosen on a battlefield such as Dextran which is the preferred blood volume expander. For a person to survive (as shown in the film) without this regimen is very unlikely. He later does start intravenous infusion, after using the chain to traumatize the victim, yet the victim lived. All are inconsistent with additional sustained life.

I guess you forgot that the pedo killed the girl. So most probably they (the pedo and the father) are going to serve the same time in jail. In our country, its life without parole.

My opinion after watching the film, although I don't condone anything that the pedo did, the father is the worse person between the 2. I understand the urge to torture the one who raped/killed your daughter, but doing it personally is wrong. That pedo will most probably be raped or even be killed in prison, especially if it will be known that it was not his first time doing it. What I hate about the father is his selfish way of doing it. He even involved other people with his torture of the pedo, emotionally. He only confirmed that he was a psycho. Everyone should be responsible to their actions, although they are coming from a very difficult/hurtful situation in the past. This applies to both the pedo and the father. I am never a believer of death penalty. What he deserves is serving time, rehabilitation and probably prison rape (or worse castration- physical or chemical) but never this kind of torture or death.
