I liked this movie better when it was Law Abiding Citizen

I started watching this movie with high hopes. It was made obvious fairly early on what was going to happen, and when it did happen I couldn't help but draw parallels to Law Abiding Citizen. That said, a French remake of Law Abiding Citizen could end up being decent, so I kept watching, and by the end I just thought "this was a bad movie."

If this movie's premise seems interesting to you, do yourself a favor and watch Law Abiding Citizen instead.

Lol typical American ignorance and hypocrisy.. Hollywood are masters in terms of copying foreign movies, and your ignorance leads you to believe that you invented it all.. the novel was written years before LAC directors decided to make their own movie, if anything they would have been the ones copying this movie

Do yourself a favor and read the novel before, maybe that'll change your mind, and educate you a bit...

Ever heard of Death Wish, Movie where a man gets revenge for his family? This aint copied the terrible Gerry Butler trash movie, the formula has been done countless times. And I agree, America is the king of re-makes and stealing ideas if not whole movies, normally for those too stupid to read subs, take Let the Right One In or Girl With The Dragon Tat, perfectly decent movies remade cause most people are too lazy/dumb to read AND watch :(

I agree with you on the whole America stealing foreign movie ideas however dumb people not wanting to read subtitles is not the reason that movies like Let the Right One In and The Girl with the Dragon tattoo are remade in America. They're remade in America because they are great foreign films made by foreign studios without enough money to pay for good enough marketing and releases in the States to give them huge releases. It's not like Americans movie creators are deliberately reaping the spoils of an already amazing film,( i mean they somewhat are) it's just that the film has a very good chance of making way more money if marketed by a major American studio. But then again I suppose the huge American studios could pay for larger marketing across the states for foreign films to get distribution profits but I why not just remake the whole *beep* thing and get more money. So uh yea you're right for the most part about people being dumb and *beep* like that but there's a little more to it.

Both LTROI and TGWTDT, got english dub,but americans are *beep* xenophobic bitches.

Hey friend, I'm American and am in no way xenophobic. And you do realize that you just made a generalization about 310 million people right?

Reality has a liberal bias.

And you, not your entire country, are an ignorant buffoon.

In a thread where someone is advised to "do some research" this one pops up.

Read up on Hammer Films (the studio that made Let Me In) so you'll know what country they are located in.

And it never fails to amaze me how some people seem to think reading subtitles is some kind of badge of honor and proof of how much you enjoy working.

Both those movies were only made because people are "too lazy to read books". There was nothing wrong with the books...but people can't be bothered to read...so they made them into movies.

Works both ways.

Here we go again. America bashing. It is so tiring. You think other countries haven't "stolen" from other countries? Don't watch the remakes; nobody is forcing you. If the originals are that good then what is your worry? Why not worry about your own country? Why are you concerned with what America is doing? good grief.

Lol typical non American jumps down the throat of anyone they deem to be "American" and he doesn't even know what hypocrisy means or how to use it in a sentence. Add to that the obligatory mentioning of "intelligence" a not so subtle suggestion that all Americans are just so inferior to him.

Also before you go, I'd really like to see an instance of his "hypocrisy" that you cited.

>>"Hollywood are masters in terms of copying foreign movies, and your ignorance leads you to believe that you invented it all.. the novel was written years before"

I wonder which "my significant other or daughter was raped so I need to get revenge" novel you are referring to because clearly, ''Les Sept Jours du Talion'' is the only novel in history to cover that subject, right?

Tell me, was ''Les Sept Jours du Talion'' an original idea or did Patrick Senécal (A CANADIAN) perhaps "steal" it like Hollywood does?

Jealous much?

reply

Don't you realize that your stereotyping of all Americans makes you the most superior ignoramus of all? Now that's hypocrisy, indeed!

reply

Sigh... All Americans are not ignorant and hypocritical. Please stop making such sweeping generalizations. Ignorance and hypocrisy exist everywhere, as do their counterparts.

Please read your facts right before making any statement. Seven Days in NOT a remake of Law Abiding Citizen. If you woul've read the infos correctly on IMDB,it says it is an adaption of the book ''Les Sept Jours du Talion'' written by Patrick Senécal, a french canadian author and he wrote it in 2002.

Even that, the idea of revenge on individual for personnal justice isn't really new, we've all seen similar plots in the past.

reply

Law Abiding Citizen was a turd that pussied out halfway through the flick. This was ten times better. And I agree with some of the other posters. Revenge isn't exactly a new concept.

reply

i'd say it was the same as the tortured but not much like law abiding citizen.

reply

Are you high? This is the movie Law Abiding Citizen should have been.

Sorry if it wasn't filled with gratuitous violence and a large body count.

reply

Did you just recommend "Law Abiding Citizen"!!! Definitely the worst revenge film and one of the worst films of all time, it makes you think why people would actually pay for such an atrocious picture to be made. Well I guess endorsements such as these encourage them on. I mean why is Gerard Butler even a star, hell even Orlando Bloom is a better actor than this chump, and that is the worst thing (I feel) anyone can say to an "actor". Seven Days is no masterpiece and it does not compare to some of the greatest revenge films ever made (watch Korean revenge films if you haven't), but it is a decent flick and should not be compared or even mentioned in the same sentence with "Law Abiding Citizen"....

reply

Law Abiding Citizen is a typical Hollywood blockbuster with explosions and fantastical plots like digging a tunnel from the jail cell. The French movie Seven Days has more of a Sundance Film festival/Independent low budget type feel. This one focuses on the psyche of the character rather than special effects and out of this world plots. LAC is for teenagers, probably much like the OP. Whereas Seven Days can probably be a topic of discussion at a University. If you take the OP's advice, it's like taking advice from a kid. Extreme torture movies are not for everyone, if you fall into this group then you should actually take the OP's advice and watch Law Abiding Citizen.

reply

This movie has less to do with LAW ABIDING CITIZEN because they're both 'grieved father looking for justice' stories than SAVING PRIVATE RYAN compares to TRANSFORMERS as war stories.

Seriously, WTF?!
