invention of the elevator

Ok, ok, I really hate to nitpick a B-movie but when I heard Dr. Collins say that the elevator was invented in 1853 she was half right. The device called an elevator was invented by Ottis in 1853, but a device used AS an elevator was in the year 236 BC. I had to check it out on Wikipedia. Too much time on my hands I guess.
