OK FOR ALL YOUR STUPID AND PEOPLE OUT THERE

Katherine was not raped in this movie by Doug ok she was seduce by him there a huge big difference and even the director said this .So enough with people thinking she was raped no she was not .

Well, I don't think the film gives enough evidence to 100% define it, however, I feel it would fall under rape more than seduction. I don't know the law's exact definition of rape, but considering that Katherine was highly intoxicated would bring me to define it as "incapable of valid consent."

I will absolutely agree that the initial action was a seduction, but the very apparent impairment to Katherine's state of comprehension after the alcohol consumption, that Doug was very aware of, would have me interpret his actions an obvious "taking advantage" situation.

If a woman is drugged or too drunk to consent, she's raped.

He drugged her, ergo he raped her.

reply

Of course she was raped. She didn't even know until the end of the movie through a flashback that she even had sex.

The director's comments make it clear that it was not his intent to do so. I understand he did a poor job presenting it, but you claiming she was raped detracts from the significance of the scene by highlighting an unintended aspect of the story. Not trivializing rape, just saying debating this scene is pointless when the actual intent has already been discovered.

K well I don't have the answer to this subject but I do know that anyone using the topic line:
"OK FOR ALL YOUR STUPID AND PEOPLE OUT THERE"

Shouldn't throw the word "stupid" around so easily....

Amen Steampunkland! In all the years I've posted and read comments on here that has to be the "stupidest" topic line ever!

My conclusion.

The first time I watched the movie, I thought Katherine had been drugged and raped.

The second time I watched the movie, Katherine appears to be clearly conscious, awake, and fully participating in intercourse with Doug.

Then she wakes up, fully clothed, wondering if she was dreaming, which the end of the movie shows she wasn't.

Perhaps the scene was meant to be deliberately controversial. Because Katherine wasn't laying on the bed unconscious you can't say that she was roofied. The best plausible explanation I can think of if we insist she was drugged was that Katherine was slipped an ecstasy drug or some kind of aphrodisiac. If so, it would make Katherine an 'unconsenting' willing sexual partner. The problem would be proving anything to the police.

take a chill pill

"I used to love her but I had to kill her"

reply

Not sure why people are so invested in every encounter between a man and a woman being rape.

It was perfectly obvious the she was a willing and active participant in the sex.

Scary, isn't it?

The rationalization of a person being "clearly conscious, awake, and fully participating" means fair game was certainly unsettling.

It was pretty much rape. I envy her though. I mean, it's David Morrissey.

Boycott movies that involve real animal violence! (and their directors too)

reply

She WAS raped because she was drugged so couldn't give consent
