Hate it, Really?
I can't figure out all the dislike for this film. I felt it was a brilliant piece of movie making.
-The writing/story, was light hearted and hillarious; I found all the humor to be perfect, and right on beat. While the drama and romance kept a balance which kept me interrested and entertained. I couldn't wait to see in what kind of mess the cast would find themselves next. From hillbilly swampfolk, to a conflicted, and unexpected family reunion. I was entertained from start to finish.
-The Cinematography was beautiful. I thought the work was exceptional and the dream sequences were as disturbing as they were funny and mesmerising.
-The Direction was great, and every montage, extended dialogue, and cut scene to a different storyline was perfectly placed, and kept the pacing, while still providing the film with the nescacary information to complete the story.
-The Editing also falls under the same compliment, with the adition of very few, if any mistakes. It had none of the slips one sees so much in cinema today. The attention to detail in this regard was incredible.
-The cast was amazing, from the casting direction to the acting, I was sold on everything. The performances were demure and flawless, Dramatic and funny; I felt drawn into the characters, and their indavidual stories.
Plus: Billy Drago! The man played John Bly, for crying out loud. Need I really say more?!?!
In all, I felt it was a great film with plenty of "rewatchability." I always enjoy sharing it with people who have never seen it before. It always gets a good laugh, which has made it a welcome addition to my DVD collection.
