Feel Like Half of Movie missing

Any one else feel disappointed that John was missing through 85% of the movie? I mean come on the poor guy, the cute poor guy, trying to survive out there all by himself, hurt, bleeding *sigh*... now that's a good western.

I agree. Also, several characters were introduced with great emphasis--the judge's wife, the storekeeper, etc.--and then pretty much disappeared. So much of the movie had slow pacing, I would have preferred a bit faster pace so there would be time to explore some of the many other plot lines such as what was happening to John.

The script was poor!

Agreed and agreed.

Strange thing, though is that I noticed here that there is a supposed US release that is a longer version. Strangely, if you do a search for "Sage Creek" on Blockbuster, it shows two different DVDs. Same cover pose of Wes Studi, Irene Bedard, and David Carradine...but this one has a snowy landscape around them! Weird. Actually, that was one of the things that totally mystified me--I though it snows in Wyoming in December. They might as well have been in Arizona for the weather in the film I saw.

Anyone see this longer version?

There is one version known as CHRISTMAS MIRACLE AT SAGE CREEK that is supposed to be 90 min and there is a version known as MIRACLE AT SAGE CREEK that is 83 minutes. So, that should explain a lot of things. I am sure it all has to do with marketing of the video or something similar. My guess is it went something like this...the title with the word Christmas was released for TV at Christmas time and then later it was shortened by 7 minutes to take the emphasis off Christmas and the title had that word taken out so it could be sold for broadcast or on video as a "year around" story.
