*Spoilers* The End?

So the goddess of destruction goes to the heavens and starts taking out the angels, is that it? Then good ol coffin man Sak has to stop her with his mighty penis sword?

reply

Is it me, or do subtitled movies make more sense than dubbed? Maybe there is a loss in translation on the last of this movie. From what I've seen, Sak is aviator of a god who discovers his powers. Since they ended the movie without a victor. It looks like Sak, and the goddess will fight each other for eternity. What is the point of having a Death Trance 2.

Kinda interesting how the goddess of destruction looked more like a goddess of life. Having all the flowers on her, and bleeding rose petals. She should be wearing a BDSM leather outfit since she was sexualy turned on by the pain, lol

reply

his name is Tak not Sak. thats just gross.

and his characters name is Grave.

reply

Might be short for Sakaguchi but "Sak's mighty penis sword" does sound kinda nasty!

reply

The sword the goddess had also(the one he had had the male) has the female private.

reply

you made no sense just then.

" I would love to change the world, but they won't give me the source code. "

reply

well, judging by the way Versus ended [so that their could easily be a sequel], The directors' planning to do the same with Death Trance.

[and should I ask what the "female genitalia on the goddess's sword thing" meant?]

reply

Might be meant literally - the handle on the Goddess's sword has a design or crack that could be interpreted as genitalia (can best be seen when Grave and Goddess are fighting in the end and crossing their swords, the camera does a 180 degree around them and then slows down showing Goddesses bloody hand holding the sword - check near the bloody tip of the handle).
And Tak's sword handle does indeed resemble a penis, especially when held up ;)

reply

The reasoning for this, if anyone here actually follows Japanese lore, is that there is very real and deep meaning in the phallic and genitalia symbolism interpreted by the sword origin itself... they aren't sex crazed (well, totally anyway) but genitalia is the literal objectification of life and power. there are actually old sects of shoto buhdism that worship the penis. the katana is supposed to be an interpretation of one's manhood and influence.

reply

Not only there. This is something that Dan Brown (or rather, the people that he presumably stole a lot of the book from) writes about in the Da Vinci Code.

reply

Anyway... so how do we interpret the ending ?

reply

if hes the hero of the story. why the *beep* did he open the coffin. it doesnt make sense when the ex-angel at the end said hes the only hope when its actually his fault for opening destruction.

reply

i took it to mean that he was destined to do that, but he had no idea who he really was. he was driven by the need to battle (to the point that he told her to destroy him), so it could be all about him fullfilling his destiny. i do wish a lot of the fighting scenes were cut down in order to have more story fleshed out. interesting idea, especially with the angels falling from heaven.
