Mark Ruffalo as Columbo

Not that I think anyone but Peter Falk could do the character justice, but seeing Mark Ruffalo looking dishelved in a tan trench coat made me want to see a big screen version of Columbo starring him.

Agree completely
Hell, i miss the character and Ruffalo COULD be great (Hes really terrific in most everything)
Well done Mark

I rewatched this again a few weeks ago and thought exactly the same thing ๐Ÿ˜ƒ.

reply

Yeah, if anyone...he just might be able to pull that off.

reply

I think that's been suggested before.

Think there were homages to a few TV/movie detectives throughout as the years progressed: Columbo and Dirty Harry of course, but someone mentioned there was a guy dressed and looked like Steve McQueen in Bulliet, then at one point the way Ruffalo was dressed/hairstyle and put the siren light on top the hood of the car๐Ÿšจ and screeching away like something out of Starsky&Hutch..

maybe it was Finchers commentating on how tv/movie police detectives were influencing the real world of police. and vice versa

reply

It might happen.

I rewatched it tonight and in the very first shot of Ruffalo I thought to myself, damn he'd make a spot on Columbo.

reply

Ruffalo would excel at the douchebag side of Columbo, but without any of Falk's charm.

Mark always uses the same voice. I've never seen him play a role that was created for the place, time, and temperament.

Johnny Depp would probably pull it off. Just my opinion
