I never understood why the guy was being saved by the Russians

I never understood who the head transplant guy was and why he was so special to the people around them. Was he someone's relative or some big Russian mobster. It seemed like a big operation for one guy or was he just some side job?

reply

The guy who killed Amanda Peet's character who was trying to save his life was his husband

OP is asking who the bald guy on operating table was, not who the guy hunting organs was.

They never explained it all in the movie. Just terrible mistake.

Eskimo answered the question though.

The guy hunting organs was the husband of the bald guy, so it was basically being done out of love. The russian doctors were working for the guy who was hunting the organs.

Why the russian docters were working for him and doing all the illegal things they were doing wasn't exactly made clear, but I just imagined that a doctor who would be doing that kind of experimentation wouldn't really care about what laws he was breaking just as long as he got to keep doing his experimenting with someone else paying the bills and providing him with specimens.

OP is asking for background on the bald guy, not his love life.

Who is this guy?

Why is a thug like that important enough to save this way?

How is he and his husband funding this?

How is Russia, the most anti-gay society, OK with them being married? (OK, I just put this here for lulz)

Basically, this movie does jack with character/lore development. What a joke.

Then again, maybe the OP should have just watched the movie again before posting because he obviously missed a few things the first time around.

It was shown what relationship the two guys had, and the background of how the bald guy fit in with the story of the priest was explained in the dialogue.

The X-File aspects of the movie were the psychic connection between the priest and the bald guy, the experiments of the Frankenstein'esque russian doctor, and the way all the dogs in the movie sensed that the russians were bad guys.

I wonder why women? Was there some transgender thing going on as well? He looks like from his photograph a bald hawkish dude. But the body parts are from young athletic women. Please don't tell that sexual abuse from Fr. Joe earlier in his life left him wanting to be female.

Because if so, forget body parts. Just make this about brain transplants.

Terrible things Lawrence. You've done terrible things.
