scientist can predict(how accurately i dont know) the chemical composition of other celestial objects, so they might be prepared for the liquid atmosphere ahead of time. however, even if such a prediction was not made, in physically exploring other planets, you would probably take gear to account for just about any environment from scuba to climbing.
