Flop / no wide release

Made less than $4 million domestic with a $30 million budget. It never showed in more than 300 theaters. Anyone know why it didn't have a wide release?

It never quite got the initial critical reception or low-theatre quality averages to justify a wide release.

It's over two and a half hours, I wouldn't want to sit in the cinema for that long.
Saying that I'm pretty sure Avatar was well over two hours? That was one of the highest grossing movies of all time I believe?

If you followed this when it came out, you would know why.

WB intentionally did this. Why? Out of spite. They wanted the film title edited and the entire film edited into a dumb shoot-em up type movie. Pitt and Dominick refused and thus, WB didn't give it a national release.

Had nothing to do with it being a bad movie. Casey got a freaking Oscar nom out of it.
