Why does everyone have dreadlocks?

What was up with that? Everyone (literally everyone) in this movie had dreadlocks? why? there were no other hairstyles back then lol?

You won't believe me when I tell you, but it's the truth; it's because it's a dumb movie. Serisouly, stone age man didn't "wear" his hair. He probably groomed the fur and hair of other stone age people.

Emmerich was trying to give a matted unkept look to hair, but the truth is it was probably oily and greasy, and laid flat about the body.

Giving everyone dreadlocks was just a dumb idea.

I have to agree with you 100 %

For most human hair, if you never comb it or cut it, it naturally forms dreadlocks. Only people with fine straight hair, such as Asians, will not naturally dread up.

Neolithic people, in fact ANY early humans, in Europe, Africa and the near East would certainly have had dreadlocks.

Not that this movie is a history documentary: it is a fantasy. You might just as sensibly ask why all the orcs in LOTR are ugly.

Just caught it on FX for a moment before switching the channel. I also like how everybody had perfectly groomed facial hair and the women wore makeup.
