The struggle within
Even if the movie is still in production some italian newspapers are reporting struggles between the book author and the screenplayers. The former is accusing her story to be shot in a completely unaccurate manner to the point to be offensive for her work. As examples the author cites her parents work position, the unexplicable presence of a grandmother to whom she can confess her stories and the offensive misinterpretation of her as an "awkward girl living in the world just like an alien". Of course I think noone will be surprised of such a release: nothing new in relationships between screenplayers and books authors.
What is strange, instead, is the fact the author has been gently moved away from the set. Do you think everything is due to the author second thoughts about playing herself in the movie? This is my feeling: Melissa, the author, has - from the beginning - rejected the offer then, when the game has begun, changed her mind probably pretending to be reintegrated at least as "last-word-sayer" in the production of this movie. In my opinion, and if this feeling is right, the production has shown not to be interested in supporting author's whims.
What do you think?
