the real estate guy in their new town?

....I didn't understand that....the guy she confronts and asks him if he's following her...was he with the police?

reply

I was wondering the same thing. Here is my take on it: He looked a lot like the FBI guy who moved them in and I think he was following her because as she states later "what if we are bait?". That also might explain the HUGE plot hole of letting her mother give out their new phone number eventhough they are in witness protection.

reply

Yes, he was the FBI agent that moved them. I assume he just wanted to make sure they were settling in OK.
Not much of a point having this scene at all unless they (director) did want you to believe they were being set up.

reply

Why do they have to use them as bait while in witness protection? they all just could have waited araund their housse (original house). sure some plot holes there. Or just to show her being paranoind.

reply

That was my thought as well. You'd have to be an idiot not to think that these guys aren't going to try to go out to the house again, so just stake it out and grab them there.

reply

In witness protection, the FBI have more control. They couple may not have stayed in their old house, they may have taken off.

They were used as bait:

1. Why would an FBI agent NOT stake out their old house in case the criminals came back?

2. Why would the FBI NOT erase ALL personal information from the OLD house, like phone numbers of family on speed dial.

reply

Probably so. You see, people today are far too much "in competition" with artists. Instead of enjoying a film and letting the film makers steer the boat, these people are there trying to pick the thing to peices!

Something isn't a plothole when it is just not explained or poele don't understand it. The only way that they could have explained all that would be for a police man to have an "Oh so natural" conversation where he says "oh and we'll use them as bait and set up the hitman to find them. Hah hah hah".

Far too often, "plot holes" are just part of the film that was left ambiguous but that film fans today are rabidly wanting to tear apart.

reply

Exactly. They are so busy looking for plot holes they don't realize that the guy outside in the car was the same agent that moved them in. I didn't realize they were agents until I saw the second guy in the car.

He didn't want to say right out they were FBI because he wanted them all to blend in and not alert attention to other people that FBI were in town, incase the hitmen came to town and started asking around.

I thought he was with the mob that was also looking for "Bird".
