Rufus Sewell

Best actor in this movie, above Paul Giamatti. The way he portrayed a crown prince was so much like i would imagine, from reading fantasy books and watching other movies. and when he first has a fight with the duchess "IT HAS EVERYTHING TO DO WITH ME!!!" Monster.

Any other movies where he is like this? in as big or a bigger roll

If at first you don't succeed, call it version 1.0

I agree I thought he did really well. In particular, I was really impressed with him in the scene where he shoots himself and talks about how he has to do everything and he's done "too much."

I thought the entire cast was exceptional, but Rufus Sewell always stands out. Of course he's a lovely bad guy in A Knight's Tale. I haven't seen it, but you might check out The Last King (TV series).

Different roles: Two words: Dark City. He was my entire reason for watching Pillars of the Earth (very different role, but he is always so dignified). And he's good in the US version of Eleventh Hour, although I'm not crazy about his accent.

Are there any movies where he does not play a jerk?

reply

It's a tv show, and it only lasted 1 season, but watch "Eleventh Hour". I've always been disappointed in how he seems to be typecast into bad characters. I guess it's because he does it so well. But he's just lovely when he's a good guy. I'd like to see him as a leading man, because he has so much charisma and sex appeal.

Why does he always play the jerk? Just once, I would like to see him in a movie playing the nice guy.

Yes, Sewell is great in this.

For me his best performance is in 'The Man in The High Castle', and also his performance in 'Dark City is another good one too.
