Why did Red wear a skirt AND jeans?

It's really bugging me. Why is she wearing both?

reply

i also sometimes wear both skirt and pants at the same time. nothing wrong with it.

it's something teenage girls do nowadays, its a style thing.

In addition to the fact that this has been an accepted style in parts of the U.S. and elsewhere for at least 50 years or more, it's most often done during colder weather [the movie is apparently set in an Alpine region, and furred animals are seen wearing sweaters].
While Little Red Riding Hood only walked to her grandmother's house, Red rides a bike there, and this is only the beginning of her action-packed day. Red's skirt, I assume, may well be part of the tradition, like the hooded cape, but the jeans are a very basic need, both for Red's protection from the small and large dangers of her day, and for the animators who didn't want to deal with the "magical iron skirt that never flies up".
Plus, any modern girl who knows anything about forests in general knows she should wear jeans when walking there, but in Little Red Riding Hood's day these had not been invented yet.

Yeah, that bugged me slightly too. I think she should have just worn the jeans or leggings instead of jeans.

Because of paedophiles.

she was prepared.

reply

haha, great!

Pam, those were great pumps.

just watched it and i concur, pointless to have both. lose the skirt. it was too short for her to wear without revealing her fanny and trousers were the more practical option. reminds me of when we used to wear short skirts over jeans when we were kids and thought it was cool

let's not go to camelot, it is a silly place

In grammar school during the winter, I use to wear pants under my skirt.
