Just read the book. One of the best I've ever read. Made me cry at the end, both of the times I read it. Um...Alma is tall and skinny. She has black hair and a gap between her two front teeth, which she and her uncle inherited from her grandmother on her mum's side. She has just turned fifteen, and has realized she has fallen in love, which she didn't want to do after seeing the pain it has caused her mum since she is not able to recover from her father's death. I love this book and can't wait for the film. I so hope that Alfonso is able to get Emma Watson for the part. He knows her and has faith in her acting abilities to do justice to the part, and I trust him. Last month I read one of Jonathan's books then this month I read Nicole's. I didn't realize that they were married, but I could definately see a common writting style. Excellent!!!

it's a while ago that i read this but isn't the point that there are two Alma's? which one are you talking about?

singer

reply

yeah, there are two.
Alma Singer is sort of the lead character and she was name after the Alma in the book. And the Alma in the book Alma is at first about 10 and the grows older (but only 25 or so if I remember correctly). But it would make sence to use the same actress for the two.

I want to see Ivana Baquero (from Pan's Labyrinth) to play Alma Singer. She speaks fluent English in addition to Spanish.

reply

I think Ivana Baquero would be perfect for the role too.

reply

Yes. Oh, yes, I absolutely agree. She'd be fantastic

I wouldn't mind having Emma Watson in this film as a nice step forward from the HP films and into a budding acting career. My only concern would be her accent, but definitely can see her doing it if she is chosen.

I'm actually hoping that they do open calls for the role of Alma. I'd flip out for a chance to audition for this.

What about dakota blue richards? she will be a good choice?

reply

PLEASE not Emma watson
As much as i love that girl, she would just not be right for Alma.
I hope they pick an unknown girl for this role.
If emma played Alma, i would constantly be reminded of Hermione Granger, and it would just ruin Alma's personality (and the film) for me.
