I think this is more a testament to your inability to focus for very long rather than a lack of quality narrative technique. You are certainly entitled to your opinion and your opinion is always correct for you; however, there is viewer failure as much as there is movie failure and after watching this film for the first time, I feel this film is suffering from a lot of viewer failure due to perhaps misrepresentation in the advertising or perhaps expectations due to limited tastes of what horror is perceived to be. This is, after all, a low budget film. That doesn't excuse bad story telling, but it may excuse some of the acting expectations.
I found this to be an interesting and far more original new take on the vampire mythos than say "Twilight." I thought it was right up there with "Let the Right One In" as far as originality. Horror is varied, from subtle psychological thrillers to the torture stuff. Fans should stop trying to judge all horror films by one aesthetic. It isn't fair to the genre or those exploring those varied levels...and ultimately does the viewer no good either. But then again the industry needs to stop advertising films as "The Best Ever" that's for sure going to lead to disappointment.
Next time, allow yourself to invest in the whole movie before you judge it. It sounds like multitasking has led to your fear of wasting time. Some of the worst movies ever made are worth seeing. It gives us something to talk about, not to just summarily dismiss.
