Exactly what does it cover

This films seems to have many themes running through it.

I wondered if anyone who has seen it could inform me of what themes were the strongest.

I know it tackles xenophobia, poverty, prejudice and homosexuality. There might be more, not quite sure.

Anyway, just wanted to know what themes drove the film really.

Thank you!!

I would say it is about trying to make a good a happy life for yourself despite all the crap life throws at you, which includes xenophobia, poverty, prejudice and, if it is a problem for the individual, homosexuality.

I'd say xenophobia was the overwhelming theme for me. I saw Gypo at NewFest (the gay and lesbian film fest in NYC) and so I expected something to do with homosexuality, and there was, but not as a main theme (which was very refreshing for me.) The main conflicts in the film among characters arose from xenophobic and ignorant attitudes. Another strong theme was the "teenage mother" thing, I think. The daughter of the main character has a baby and this puts on additional strain on the family situation, especially when it comes to money. Hope that helps...
