Damien Rice also wrote and performed the opening song "The blowers daughter" on the Mike Nichols film "Closer" with Jude Law. Great cd. Glad to see he's getting his recognition.

Does anyone know the song featured at the end of the film? During the ride to the airport? It's also played when the crew encounters the leopard shark in "The Life Aquatic".

reply

the song during the ride to the airport is by Sigur Ros, another band from iceland. It's off their second album Ágætis Byrjun. I believe the song is called "staralfur" so, i dont know what that means in english...

reply

glad to see someone asked about that song.

I love Sigur Ros more than life itself.

Well, I just finished watching a tape I had made of this-and loved it-and immediately came over here to see if imdb had soundtrack info when there was none on crawl. So I just want to thank montanawind and jonathan, this kind of sharing between people is exactly what the internet was made for. Great film and great music. Note to producers-never leave out music info.

reply

Thanks to all of you who gave info on the music in Girl in the Café. Wasn't it great? Added so much to the poignancy of the film. Here's hoping the soundtrack is released.

reply

Thanks for the song info. I was looking everywhere! Starafur means staring elf, I got it off of Sigur Ros' website.

Does anyone know the title of the Italian opera that plays when Lawrence walks into the Italian restaurant to meet Gina for their lunch date? It can also be heard in "He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not" (which also didn't come out with a soundtrack) starring Audrey Tautou. Thanks in advance.

-"I am all astonishment."

reply

It took some research...but the name of the song is Belle Nuit, O' Nuit D'Amour from The Tales of Hoffman. The artist is Beverly Sills.

reply

Wow yeah that's the one! Thank you so much! =D

I've only found 3 songs on this board. The dvd isn't going to be released until September 6. Does anyone have any additional info on other tracks from the film?

reply

I'm looking for the song that plays during the end credits. I searched "Can you hear me now" and came up empty. Anybody have a clue?

reply

The song is COLD WATER, by Damien Rice, from his "O" album. (There are sample tracks of this available on amazon, it's all quite gorgeous: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00009V7P8/ref=m_art_li_1/002-9778942-9512834?v=glance&s=music)

The lyrics are:

Cold, cold water surrounds me now
And all I've got is your hand
Lord, can you hear me now?
Lord, can you hear me now?
Lord, can you hear me now?
Or am I lost?

Love one's daughter
Allow me that
And I can't let go of your hand
Lord, can you hear me now?
Lord, can you hear me now?
Lord, can you hear me now?
Or am I lost?

Cold, cold water surrounds me now
And all I've got is your hand
Lord, can you hear me now?
Lord, can you hear me now?
Lord, can you hear me now?
Or am I lost?

Thank you guys for the info, I'm glad that I could find "Cold Water". I didn't know that Damien Rice was such a good artist, he reminds me of David Gray, but you guys have any other good music to listen to from other things keep it going. I'm always interested in getting the songs from these movies. Belle Nuit was also played in LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL! I just wanted to thank you guys that was a very good movie. I hope to see you all more on here sine I films and work for a video store.
