This is such a great movie.

It depicts the saddest, loneliest, most pathetic person ever. I've never identified with a character so much. I've seen it three times already and it gets better at every turn. I especially love the ending, which stays true to form. It's funny, because this movie depresses the hell out of me, but there really isn't anything like it. I may not be as comically exaggerated as Scotty Pelk, but I do know what it means to be a film geek to the very end...

I felt that the true ending was too cruel.

I didn't need to see him get the girl, or have revenge fantasies realized ... I just needed to see him get shocked out of his current track enough to grow up a little and start trending toward a healthy path. The character struck me as someone lost, probably would be homeless shortly after the credits (I think his job at the auto parts warehouse was also a figment of the false ending, in reality he probably would have been fired from that job as well).

I'd like to see an ending where Scotty started behaving human, a little bit, and eventually ran into Nico ... perhaps she's on her own because the jerk doesn't like challenging movies. I'd like a scene where he treats her as a real person, and she's perhaps a little sad, but they don't hook up, and Scotty's OK with that.

I think that would be a big rewrite of the movie though!

ah, but life's like that. broken people like scotty don't just fix themselves in time for the hollywood ending.

you're right, a happy ending would be totally out of character with the rest of the movie. it'd have to be an entirely different movie with a very different scotty to make that work.

I thought this movie was terrible. If you truly identified with this sad, annoying, pathetic, perverted, insanely creepy character then I feel sorry for you. As for the ending, i saw it coming a mile away, and it lasted way too long. The shots of Scotty jacking off in the mirror was in poor taste, and the 'scat' scene was in the worst taste. Not funny whatsoever and destroyed what little charm the movie had up to that point. I really hated it.

A day without a buzz is a day that never was.

Some situations that happened to him kind of remind me of me. I was laughing at some of those scenes. I am surprised that I laughed at them too. I kept thinking that something good was going to happen and it kind of didn't. At least Scottie got to kiss a girl and saw another one have sex.

I would have liked for him to become friends with those two guys at the party though.

btw the ending scene where he gets famous wasn't real :/
