She is, seriously, one of the worst actors working today. I put forth that if she wasn't married to Mamet she wouldn't get any work at all.
Just consistently terrible at everything she does.

Before Mamet was married to Rebecca Pidgeon he was with Lindsay Crouse, who is a wonderful actress except when she was married to David "acting is only for men" Mamet. Watch "House of Games" for instance. A flat affect-less performance from Lindsay Crouse but otherwise fine work by Joe Mantegna.
Mamet is a freaking huge sexist pig, one only needs to read his plays, books and watch his films to figure this out. He kind of hates women. Now I am not saying that Rebecca Pidgeon is an otherwise fine actor if she weren't married to Mamet -- she is not. But the flat affect free performance is most definitely Mamet's direction (even though he did not personally direct this film).
