deleted scenes

The DVD of "Crazy" includes a number of deleted scenes, which taken together are very interesting. It appears that sometime between filming and final editing, a decision was made to make Evelyn considerably more sympathetic than originally planned.

Deleted scenes indicate that: Evelyn's phone call to Hank to join her in Wisconsin was a deliberate set-up that resulted in his being run off the road and severely injured; that Evelyn deliberately provoked the incident in the restaurant where he fired the gun, which resulted in him being committed to the insane asylum (she had been told by a doctor that she needed eyewitnesses to his erratic behavior), and that she continued her relationship (or at least remained in contact) with Bradford.

If these scenes had been included in the released version, Evelyn would have come off as a totally unsympathetic, evil character.

This is an excellent movie, by the way. I would enjoy seeing a version that included the deleted scenes, just for the sake of comparison.
