Another Battle Royale rip off.

This and The Hunger Games both. It can't be denied. The similarities are too close to be coincidental.

It's funny, because you are completely wrong and have no idea what you're talking about.

It's even funnier that you think Battle Royale was the first one to come up with the premise.

I seriously doubt either film was not influenced by Battle Royale in any way. Sorry that I don't know every single thing about movies. You can't blame me for not knowing that Battle Royale was not the first.

reply

To say any of these films first thought up the idea of an arena where people fought to the death, well...I direct you to google and look up the words Roman Gladiator.

There are dozens of these types of stories on film.

The Running Man, Battle Royale, The Hunger Games, The Condemned, Death Race, Spartacus, Arena, Gladiator etc etc.

in 1965 Ursula Andress starred in a film called The 10th Victim. Watch it.

Also watch or read the lord of the flies.
and The Most Dangerous Game

And yes...you can be blamed for ranting without research.

That said, none of the other movies mentioned are as close to Battle Royale as the Hunger Games or the Condemned.

Sure gladiator arenas would be the seed of the concept, but the idea of taking a bunch of strangers and essentially locking them in a large natural environment, adding random weapons and supplies, and having people watch these matches on TV is pretty specific.

Battle Royale, Hunger Games, and the Condemned could have minor tweaks and if it were said they were remakes of the same exact movie, that would be completely viable.

Considering Battle Royale is a total rip off of Mean Guns. I am not sure how you can say this and not look stupid

I thought BR was originally completed in 1996 whilst Mean Guns was released in 1997?

reply

It sounds like you described The Running Man to me.

reply

Don't worry, even with research, you're right. Of course the premise of Battle royale about a mortal game is older, but each movie with this premise has had its own way of develop this idea. Each movie except The condemned and Hunger games, because, unlike the earlier movies with this premise, these have a lot of original elements of Battle royale, not just the premise.

The reality show thing is not from BR but it is an obvious rip off of earlier movies.

Every movie ever made "ripped off" something. STFU a-ready!!

I don't love her.. She kicked me in the face!!

Everyone brings up BATTLE ROYALE. Is this a book or movie or TV show I've never heard of? The oldest movie with this sort of premise I can think of is THE RUNNING MAN. Is BATTLE ROYALE some old folk tale?

It's a movie from Japan. Highly recommended if you like The Condemned.

reply

The only Japanese BATTLE ROYALE I see listed came out in 2000. That's long after THE RUNNING MAN.

This is an old thread, I know now that Battle Royale was not the first film with this premise.

Anime/Manga culture is perceived inaccurately by young illiterate fans as being original and innovative.

Basically, nothing textual that comes out of the fad of Western youth's interest in Japanese culture has originality.

The premise for Hunger Games and Battle Royale comes from Golding's Lord of the Flies... but what would a generation of kids who read nothing know about it... At least nothing with literary value... what would they know about inspiration and history!!

i saw an artist from devart that i follow get trolled for similar reasons... anime turds thought that he was copying something precious for them in their pathetic little culture.

little did they know in their pea-brains but the iconography was one that went back to the the middle ages and has been used thousands of times in history.

GET EDUCATED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! anime kids need to stfu in a hurry because they have no knowledge and no experience. they have no achievements and they have NO FUTURE

face up to the mess you are in and fix it... because my generation will not bail you out when the time comes... and it is coming up fast
