So painfully unrealistic

The way the lead behaves. Just happens to be unable to 'love' his girlfriend, just happens to be unable to kick a prostitute out of his car, just happens to bump into the mother of the boy that stole from him, he's an architect yet he's too dumb to shut his car, or mouth, etc.
It's one of those movies where half the time you'll be annoying yourself because the actors aren't saying or doing what anyone else would.

There are as many versions of "normal" as there are people in the world. If you want a movie where you know exactly what everybody should say and how they should react, then what's the point?

First of all, he did love his girlfriend...he wanted to be married to her, but she was the one who was hesitant.

Also, this movie wasn't about what you see at face value...the child's crime was used to tie into the crime of stealing someone's heart. I'm okay with you not liking the movie, because with ALL movies, it's a matter of taste, preference, coming from your own experiences, etc. But I will say that, if you consider this movie to be unrealistic, there are a LOT of movies more unrealistic than this one.

To each his own. I can understand that this might not have been realistic to you, but for me, I don't find it totally unrealistic...there are some aspects of it that feel familiar to me because of things that have happened in my life...and I suppose that's why. It's just a different story.

And when you think about it, most of what Hollywood puts out can be described as "unrealistic" in some way or other.

I also agree and found Jude Law's character extremely annoying - for example always speaking in metaphors - just bloody say what you mean!!!

What's "normal" anyway? Who decides to place that definition onto another human being?

Normal is what we perceive is because it's what we know to be true. It's different for everyone depending on their life experiences.
