actors
Does anyone know why this is the first or second film for so many of the actors? Was that a conscious decision on Guy Maddin's part? Just curious.
sharethe film was produced by a small nonprofit studio called The Film Company, and one of their only requirements was that Guy hire all local actors and crew. also, most of the younger actors were right out of (or still in) school. the older actors, like Gretchen Krich and Tood Moore, already had more substantial resumes, but since they live in Seattle they have not had the chance to work on as many high-profile projects as would someone living in LA or New York.
shareThe actors were amazing. Especially the one playing Sis and the one playing Wendy. The latter was simply mesmerizing to look at. Great movie. Unlike anything I've ever seen.
