Is anyone else psyched to see this??!

I, for one, am eagerly anticipating this new movie by Guy Maddin, one of my favorite filmmakers. A "grand Guignol silent" starring a bunch of orphans?! Sounds great!! Does anyone know when it'll be released in the US? Hopefully soon...

There's a preview of a section of the new film on the new Cowards Bend the Knee DVD :)

There are a few stills from Brand here:

Looking very Archangel-y

From the looks of the stills, this is gonna be classic Maddin. The screenwriter George Toles came to my film class to screen "Saddest Music" about a year and a half ago and he mentioned this project but was careful not to divuldge any info about the plot. Its cool to see Toles and Maddin back working together on a few more films. I can't wait. Peg Leg City Represent.

I was a orphan too..it was really interesting and it was fun to work with him. He would always have these bursts of ideas, and just immeadeatly start filming. He's easily one of the best directors I've had in a while.

P.S. I saw the trailer, and it's looking really good. Can't wait for this to come out..

Maddin working in 8mm and an all child cast. Sounds amazing. And he's already moved on to other things! When is this one going to be released in the SF bayarea?????????????????????????

When????????? waaaa!

Just saw it in Chicago with live accompaniment by Crispin Glover narrating (interlocuting), a team of foley artists, an orchestra, and a castrato (if you don't know what this is, it is baffling and bewildering to see). Pretty crazy, and definitely worth the trip.

Two years after my original post about this movie, I FINALLY saw the film live in a sold-out theater!! It totally lived up to my expectations. Crispin Glover narrated, and live foley artists in lab coats used whistles, chains, fake feet on sticks, vegetables, etc. to create all the sound effects. The movie itself is tragic but not without humor--filled with clanky gadgets and hyperbolized childhood memories. I had to travel a ways to see it, but it was absolutely worthwhile. If you are a fan of Gimli Hospital or Saddest Music, reserve your ticket now and GO!!!

You posters are doing this film no favors. I have read all these IMDB remarks but have yet to figure out...

a)what kind of film this is.
b)why anyone would want to see it.

Is this movie that pretentious????

Totally completely racked with excited expectation for this one. I have it pre-ordered. It shipped last Thursday, now it's Monday, it could come today, the mailman can come any time now! I haven't been this excited about a new DVD since Eraserhead!

Though it nearly took a miracle to get you to stay. It only took my little fingers to blow you away.
