Who is doing his fighting???

If you freeze frame in the stairwell fighting sequence, you can see that it is CLEARLY not seagal. And in the other fight sequences, his face is not shown, also a testament that he uses a stand in for fighting, and his fighting style is not aikido. Does he even do anything in his movies anymore, besides picking up his paycheck?

What happened to him? it used to be beautyful to see him move and fight

can anybody tell me,why he is doing this?

reply

they are either using constant stunt doubles because seagal is too old and out of shape to fight or because he shows up tpo setlate and leaves early so they have to do his scenes with someone else

I can't believe they pay him not to fight in a movie. Isn't that his whole appeal? WTF? Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren are sweating their asses off doing terrible movies and Seagals just phoning it in? Why have him at all if he's not going to do the fight scenes? I'd rather see the fighting doubles star in the movie, they can't be any worse actors than Seagal.

reply

[deleted]

the reason he cant do his own fighting is cause he doesnt take care of himself, but your right the fighting is the whole appeal and they should just makew the stuntdouble the star since they do all the work while seagal eats a sandwich

Of course Seagal isnt doing his fighting, im surprised the guy even speaks in his films, actually his new movies would probably be even better if he didnt speak, considering that his acting hasnt changed since he started out. the guy is a scam artist, uses his name and prior success to cash in and make easy money by putting out GOD AWFUL movies. Seagal cant act, the guy can barely move let alone do fight scenes, he probably has trouble getting out of bed in the morning, how could he film a quick fight scene? He's pathetic and pretty much makes waste of all that aikido talent.

Where would everyone rank this movie in comparison to his DTV movies?

....back of the net.

reply

[deleted]

you cant possibly rank all of his dtv movies..they all EQUALLY SUCK..seagal should have called it quits after Exit Wounds, his last alright movie. wanna watch seagal when he was good? watch out for justice or under siege, otherwise lower yourself to watch his embarassingly bad dtv releases.

reply

No offense. This is just my opinion but I think you have Submerged and Out For A Kill mixed up! I just don't know why but Submerged was annoying. Ok the camera work in OFAK was bollocks but Seagal made up for that surely?

reply

Attack Force is his worst.

i loved his old movies, and i rent his new movies to see some aikido techniques, but as stated earlier, he only shoots people, and he even has standins for WALKING DOWN THE STREET! i want his job, i can fight just as much as he does, NOTHING AT ALL, and shooting people is easy in movies, just point and click, dont need to aim, because i am the main badass, and as such, i can hit everything. Hey, do not even need to do the walking, other guy walks, cue on me, and i whisper some *beep* to make it look like i give a *beep* That is roughly 2 days of work, and now to cash in a cool million $

Jebus!!! i want to see people smashed upside down into furniture, and have limps broken,i just stick to Tony Jaa from now on, watch Tom yum goong, some of the best fighting scenes in a long time

Seagal's whole life is a stand-in.

OOOH? me not famous, there goes my entire narcissistic lifestyle.

but thanks for the update steveday, but it does not change the fact, that we pay to see the actor, not everybody elses backside. And the mighty one basically flips everyone off, by doing this, and we are entitled to become offended and we should be.

we may know that he is faking everything, but a lot of people see his movie on faith, and they basically get ripped off.

PS: no reply on, that i could just stop renting his movies, im just a idiot with to much faith, and do see Tony Jaa, he is faith incarnate.

Actually i had the doubt that either the stairway scene and the wharehouse scene (after the chick blows up the bad guys) the fighter was Greer. This or a very bad montage.

reply

[deleted]

> Greer? Do you mean Seagal / Cold? Greer was the dude from Thelma and Louise.

Yes, i mean that dude from TaL. In the warehouse it seems more like Seagal is hiding and watching the others fight than beating the random bad guy. And in the staircase scene Seagal's face isn't showed, so that could be someone else too.

Trust me, its much worse than that; this guy takes home at least 20 mill per movie (although probably only 10mil on DTV releases)....

reply

the most he makes for direct to videos is 4 million

reply

Yikes! Yo, Let me practice my stern platoon seargent expression in the mirror (the sum total of his acting technique), hire a stand-in, and go make this paper! (As P Diddy would have said)... };-{0

probably hes getting to old and obviously out of condition.its a shame because alot of hie early films are very good.perhaps he should start playing dads and grandads in his films and just do a small bit of fighting just to keep his hand in it would be better than doubles.

I dont think its contractual, I think he arrives at the shooting location and set and stays for a few days filming a few scenes, collects the paycheck and moves onto another movie. I have no idea why he is no longer doing his aikido fight scenes, all the fans want to see some of his old style wrist & arm locks and all the other classic moves he used to display in his old movies. How hard can that be to do those scenes, I realise he is getting on a bit but he can still surely move his arms and rely the help of editing and fancy camerawork to make him look quicker. Now as he is getting older the film makers have got him scaling walls, doing backflips and karate kicks etc, all of which is stuff that Seagal was never famous for. He needs a half decent movie soon, he lost a bit of weight for his last big comeback in Exit Wounds when Warner Bros obviously dangled some cash in his direction, I keep hiring his movies in the hope they improve but they are getting worse.

You mean you actually had to "freeze" or slow it down to see that it wasn't seagal? The double was so bad and intercut so poorly that I thought it was another guy that came in to help seagal beat the baddies. If no one has ever seen how bad the double is in this film, let me give you some idea: In the stairwell fight, the double has longer hair than seagal, has his bangs down in front of his eyes, is leaner and about 3 inches shorter. They even show his face twice, plain as day. It was like they didn't even try to make it look like seagal. Usually they will intercut a close up of seagal's face to make you think it's him and to fool your eyes, but in that fight, they didn't seem to care. There was also a warehous fight where the double did ALL the fighting and they intercut 2 shots of seagal just standing there with his hands at his sides. He could have at least put his hands up to make it look like he was in the fight. It threw me so far off that I thought it was someone else inside the warehouse helping seagal again. Hey I love the big guy and I have loved all his films until this one. Without even one seagal fight, it just isn't worth it.

reply

I saw the featurette on the Black Dawn DVD.
Seagal mentioned in the interview that it's first time he's lost a fight.
I don't know if he meant that he didn't want to do any fight scenes because of his religion or something else..

Mind you, the film was good.. but not that good.

reply

*SPOILER WARNING*

The reason they didn't show the guy in the stairwell was because they were hiding the guy's identity. You'll notice that Seagal was even wearing different clothes in the scene immediately following the stairwell guy.

The guy in the stairwell was the other CIA guy who turned out to be the bad guy - he was the one who killed the 2 russians (guy and girl) at the end near the elevator.

Seagal still does all his own fighting. You guys need to pay closer attention.

Actually he stopped doing alot of his fights after Exit Wounds when he tore his knee. He used a double in the 2nd fight in Ticker, there are also very noticable doubles in Out for a Kill(barber shop fight to name one), Out of Rach (Fight in the apartment before he tosses the guy out the window)Into the Sun(Street fight where he throws the last thug into a table) Today you Die (First fight he is only seen from the back and it's a double. The fight was shot when Seagal wasn't available.) I have worked as a fight choreographer, body double and technical advisor for independant films and the intercuts of Seagal with the doubles are almost seamless in most cases, but easy to spot if you know what to look for. If you still think I'm wrong, please go frame by frame on DVD of the films mentioned and you'll see what I mean

stunt doubles/blue screen/voice dubbing do all the work for this fat pos. seagal fans keep him in business with straight to dvd movies so he can buy more tacos. a real martial artist doesn't use stunt doubles. give it up steven seagal. give it up.

reply

Man, it's understandable Steven gotta use rightnow a stuntman, the man has had a great art martial films career and he's getting old now, so he deserves a little of respect. Furthermore he doesnt use a stuntman in the rest of the fighting scenes so, what's the problem. Repeat, He's getting old, he's getting outa' shape and this understandable and this added to his great career make that he deserves respect.
