Original name for film?

I was an extra on this film, and took part in a few scenes that are set in the New York part of this film. It will be known to me as Beyond Friendship. But here I see it down as O Jerusalem. Perhaps this is the original name for the film? Unless, Beyond Friendship is the US name, and in Europe it is the now newer name. Not sure if I like O Jerusalem yet. Someone has posted a link to pictures on a french website, and by the looks of some of the scenes, it looks as if it might be very enjoyable. It had that feeling when I was a part of it in August 2005. I was there for two days and had the chance to be around the actors - JJ Field and Said Taghmaoui. A very enjoyable experience. I'm looking forward to seeing the end result in 2006.

God, lucky one!!!

He seems like a very nice guy (JJ Field) So is Said from what I saw of him on set. JJ does have that kindof Jude Law look about him, which isn't a bad thing to have I guess. Have you ever seen him in the film Last Orders? It's supposed to be very good. I have not seen the film, but seeing as you seem to be a fan I thought I'd mention it.

Hello there!
Oh yes, I've seen Last Orders! Oh you should watch Last Orders, or Jack and the Beanslatk, or Poirot – Death on the Nile…he's a brilliant actor! I've seen all his films, except two old films and the newest film…not yet! But I really look forward to watch them one day! ;)
God and soul, I wound give my everything just to meet him once in my life. To talk to him in person! He's indeed a great actor, really, the best I've ever seen! You are right, I'm really a big fan. He's my inspiration and he gives me faith in my dreams! I'm thankful for always!
God, I must tell you this! I was in Croatia by my aunt these days, and I saw Ryan Dunn (Jackass) in the city. I spoke to him!!! I'm actually not watching Jackass, because I think it's awful, but I like Ryan Dunn, because he looks cute ;)
Where do you live?
Much love,
Irma xxx

I'm from Liverpool in the UK, Irma. I think I know which guy you mean off Jackass. Are you from Croatia?

reply

No, I'm not from Croatia. I live in Bosnia, but we spend all our holidays in Croatia by my aunt. Its' so wonderful there, so different then Bosnia….but I love when we come back home from holiday, because I hate being away from home ;)
Life in the UK must be great! I always dreamed about a life there…
Oh I still cannot believe that you really saw JJ on the set! God, you're so lucky!!!

Keep smiling, I xxx

Hello, my friend was in this film too, and she said it was being called Beyond Friendship (seeing as that was the name of the book it's taken from it aint really surprising), that's what it was called in Greece anyway.

With being a film fan also, I've noticed through film mags etc that this year seems very full of all sorts of movies, so I couldn't guess as to where they'd fit it in. I'd take a good guess at it coming out after summer and towards the end of the year. Looking forward to how it all turns out anyway. With being an extra in Liverpool too, I probably walked past you or we may have even spoke. It was a nice experience wasn't it? Take care - Joe.

Oh I still cannot believe that you really saw JJ on the set! God, you're so lucky!!! -- Well the UK is a good place, but it depends where you are from. Which town or city etc as everyone is different. It's most probably the same where you are. Anyway, if you get the chance to visit one day I'm sure you'll like it. And I hope you get to see the film either at the cinema or DVD. I'm sure you'll be around to say what you thought of it when it comes out. Hopefully speak to you and others around that time. Take care - Joe.

I am currently reading a book titled O Jerusalem. It's a true history of how Israel fought off the arabs to establish their own country in 1948. I'm not too far into, but so far, it's very interesting. I have a feeling the movie is based on the book. I'm not sure though.

reply

Sounds like it to me.

Don't read the book, go see the film.

I worked on the script and film during its development phase. The film is indeed based on the book, O Jerusalem, which in fact was the project's original title. Just before production, the title was changed to Beyond Friendship - but at the end of the day, it reverted back to its original title, O Jerusalem, in part to tie in to its source material and fans of the book.

The book itself is very informative and balanced, and like most true accounts, heavy on historical detail. The heart and soul of the film came from its director, Elie Chouraqui, who was incredibly passionate about its subject matter. Helluva nice guy.
