Read this book

"O JERUSALEM", by Larry Collins, is a novelized account of the founding of the modern state of Israel in 1948. However, all of the characters are real people (Golda Meir, etc.), and the events are real. I urge you to read this book, because it is very, very good. Is this movie based on the book or something else entirely? Inquiring minds want to know!

reply

Yes, it's based on the book. I am also an extra in the film. I think I might have mentioned it before :) Take care - Joe.

reply

Yes, the movie is based on the book written by Dominique Lapierre and Larry Collins. Same authors of "Is Paris Burning?"

reply

I didn't find this book to be a "novelization" at all.
It seemed to be simply a work of non-fiction.
On that point, how can they make a movie based on it?

reply

It's been years, but I don't remember the book being a novel at all either. I remember it as non-fiction.

reply

Same here. Read it in the late 70s, couldn't put it down; and it plainly read like non-fiction. Incredible book which will bring anyone the background of the middle-east conflict. Brilliantly written.
