This version at least deserves credit for not santizing the aftermath of the Golden Calf incident. In the Charlton Heston version, God strikes down the rebel Hebrews by opening the earth from under their feet and swallowing them up. In this version Moses has his loyalists slaughter them. Not only the dissenters but their wives and children, too, apparently.
