I don't believe in God but I love the Orginal.

Does anyone find that weird?

Nope, there's a lot of parts of the Bible make for really good movies.

It's full of mystery, violence, romance, drama...

"I gotta Swansons dinner in the freezer with your name on it."

reply

Nope. I'm in the same category - I've seen it many times.

The Ten Commandments had all the makings of a great movie, regardless of religious content: love, drama, action, suspense, big sets/props, great music, etc.. It's a winning formula.

You can't fix stupid.

"I don't believe in God..."

ROTFLMAO!!! Yeah... [sniff]... I'm sure He feels the same way about you... :-)

Sir Isaac Newton once had a skilled mechanic make for him a model of the solar system. Balls representing the planets were geared together so as to move realistically in orbit. One day an atheist friend visited Sir Isaac. On seeing the model, he operated it, and exclaimed in admiration, "Who made it?" Newton answered, "Nobody!" The atheist replied, "You must think I am a fool! Of course somebody made it, and he is a genius." Newton then said to his friend, "This thing is but a puny imitation of a much grander system whose laws you know, and I am not able to convince you that this mere toy is without a designer and maker; yet you profess to believe that the great original from which the design is taken has come into being without either designer or maker!"

OMG... no I don't find that weird at all! [snicker]

It's not possible to love the original and NOT believe in God. . . at least in the short-run.

reply

I believe it is possible because I dont believe in god and love the orginal.

It is indeed possible to enjoy the Heston version and not believe in God simply because it is a good movie. I enjoyed "Seven Years in Tibet" very much and I'm not a Buddhist, I enjoyed "Fiddler on the Roof" and I'm not Jewish, etc.

You can indeed enjoy a film just because it's a good film.

Sorry, but you're wrong about everything in the Bible being fiction. I do agree with you, though, that good films aren't restricted to only people who believe in the subject material.

reply

even though I'm not religious the Bible is not ALL fiction. It documented actual historical events and individuals. And who knows, maybe Jesus DID get resurrected.
To reply to the OP: no, it is not weird, I didn't believe in Zeus but when I was a kid, I greatly enjoyed Clash of the Titans. I don't believe in Elves but I loved the Lord of the Rings. The Bible is very good movie material.

It's not weird. I've loved all the great Biblical epics since I was a child in the 50s. Yet I didn't come to believe in God until the early 90s.

Love is never having to say you're sober.

God does not believe in atheists... therefor atheists do not exist.
