Thor vs. Beowulf

Not the Charcters but compare the films. My vote goes with Thor.

I'll give a slight edge to Thor, but I do like both films.

Funny you brought this up since I have always wondered which actor could have played the role in a life-action film, particularly based on the conceptualization of the character done in this film. I really loved the look of Beowulf.

The consensus on this board is that the actor with the closest resemblance to Beowulf is Sean Bean, which I agree with. Unfortunately, as much as I love him, Bean is getting older and doesn't have the physique or stature for this role. Then I see Thor and realize Chris Hemsworth would be great for a film like this if they ever do a live-action version.

^Good point. I was looking closer at the Beowulf poster and noticed the lines on his face. Granted Hemsworth looks older than his age and most of his peers, but I'd agree that he would be better suited for the role in his 30s.

Hemsworth has the physicality but not the training like Winston has.

I'm gonna go with Thor: the script could've been better (the story was cliche, the characters turned on Loki way too quickly, and Kat Denning's character was just there for comic relief), but, at the end of the day, it just felt more competent than Beowulf. At least it didn't have a pointless scene with a guy trying to rape his girlfriend like Beowulf did.

I call movies that are considered 'bad' hated movies.

Beowulf gets my vote, atleast it has a story, and not just back drop for the avengers movie.

I liked both, but both were inaccurate to the source material, with the poem in Beowulf's case and both the Norse myths and the comics from Marvel. At least Beowulf was more faithful to the poem than Thor was to the comics though. However, the Beowulf movie may be just about equal to the Thor comics when it came to faithfulness to the original source.

Beowulf was epic, Thos was boring.

Beowulf is the best. Still wondering why is it so underrated?

Thor was just average, poor with no real climax. Very overrated. And this strange fast love between Hemsworth and Portman characters coming from nowhere. What a deus ex machina! One scene they're just freinds with a little crush and on the other scene he's ready to come back only for her.

Beowulf has a better plot, well construct. I've enjoyed all the characters even the minors. I liked them, loved them, feared for em. And that wasn't the case with Thor.

Beowulf hands down.

It has so much subtly and maturity to it whereas Thor devolves into slly wire fu at the end.

Beowulf is a great inversion of a man turning to a hero because Beowulf had wanted nothing but glory but then in the end he just wanted be known as a man to the people he knew.

Thor was just about love making you into a big softy and hate turning you into a psychopath; yawn.

I can't believe it has such a low score because this has to be one of the most mature CGI movies to have ever been made. I suppose the mental age of your typical IMDB voters must be quite low.

This film over Thor any day. The only thing I liked in Thor was Loki & it's a pretty weak Marvel film Imo too.
