Merc vs. Merc 2
i never gotten my hands on the original, but i'am halfway through #2. anyone played both? is it worth me tracking down this one or should i just stick with the sequel?

Mercenaries 1 is a little lighter on plot (then again, Mercs 2 wasn't exactly laden with ripe characterization and brilliant scripting) and lacks some cool things from Mercs 2 (helicopter jacking, swimming), but in my opinion has a better overrall feel. Mercs does have a few glitches, but Mercs 2 has many more; it felt somewhat rushed. Also, I like the structure provided by the Deck of 52 (and the overall mission structure), and the interplay of factions in Mercs better as well (in Mercs 2, UP and the PLAV are more or less irrelevant, both in terms of story and gameplay, once the Allies and Chinese show up, the Pirates seemed to have less of a point to being there than the Russian Mafia did in the first game).

Mercs 1 is better. Its longer, more challenging, not to mention more satisfying.
shareMercenaries 1 is FAR better. The only bad thing is the mediocore graphics. Oh well. Mercenaries 2 is awesome, but just pales in comparison witht the first game.
