the mythbusters/braniac 'debate' ?

honestly, they both came out in the same year, neither is copying the other, they deal with different things... very similar styles but rather different things. Brainiac will do anything, even if it's not technically science, if they want to, but they also do some pretty cool things with science, the magic paste that's safe when wet is great!

Mythbusters really seems to think things through a lot more and really challenge a subject rather then go after a laugh of an explosion, they like both and get both regularly but really only as a side thing from thei experiments.

Personally i prefer Mythbusters, but thats cos i'd rather watch a team of named people having fun them selves then a group of unnamed subjects being fairly stoic in the scene (excluding the presenter) It's funny when they've both done the same things (paper folding and the rain walk vs run) and got different results... what do others think with out getting irate and huffy about how crap the other show is or such...?

i have a magic box, it's better then yours and it travels through time and space, can yours?

Personally, i think mythbusters is a lot better, as you see they actually show you their scientific (for the most part) proof whether the myth is possible or not.

On a side note, is it just me, or does the Brainiac symbol look a lot like Adam Savage from Mythbusters?

I saw an episode of Brainiac where they did the same sort of expriment they did on MYTHBUSTERS. IT was "Do you get wet more if if you walk or run in the rain". Both came up with the same results.

Before we all start with this old stuff about which came first, consider this...

Years before either Brainiac or Mythbusters, there was an Open University programme called "Hollywood Science", where they would test the premise of a scene on a movie to see if it would work in real life.

Sounds like Mythbusters is a copy of Hollywood Science.

As far as I know, I appreciate the humour of Brainiac more though. Maybe it's just the tang of the sarcasm spread out. However, MythBusters is also great in being unorthodox about their experiments. i can't choose one over the other, i really like them both.

I prefer Brainiac. I don't know why, Brainiac is a lot more fun to me, they do these weird experiments and it's just hilarious!

I prefer Mythbusters. 100% more, to be honest. I watched the first episode of Brainiac when it first came out, and loved it. I've watched every episode since then, but as soon as Hammond left, it became pretty stale and unenjoyable. (It was getting a little lackluster towards the end of Hammond's final season as well, in my opinion.) But as soon as Vic Reeves has been on, the experiments just seem to be joke based, and a bit silly. Since the last season aired, I'd discovered Mythbusters, and since then, I think I've seen about 3-4 seasons of it, and it's been consistently enjoyable.

Brainiac just seems to be based entirely on Toilet humour recently, though, and focuses too much on Vic Reeves, and Braniac Joe. That may not be a bad thing, but I don't really like the two, and when they're in the episode pretty much all the way through, it doesn't make me enjoy the show. For those reasons, I prefer Mythbusters, but as soon as Brainiac 6 airs, I'll still watch it.

Just watched my first episode today, and where was the science?

Saw some woman from Kent spinning around to see how much she could take before she couldn't walk in a straight line.

Some woman burns a pair of wellington boots with a flame thrower.

Dropping a piano (what a god damn waste), a half ton of crockery and a milk truck to see which would make the highest decibel rating.

Oh, and lets not forget the amazing scene where Jack Nicholson randomly shows up, presses a button and destroys a car.

Wonderful "science."

Mythbusters by a god damn long shot.
