A film for women?

I presume men must like this film for it to have such a high rating on IMDB, but I'm asking all the men out there, don't you feel a bit left out at such a female dominated fil that portrays men as cheats?

I honestly didnt even think of it in that way. I definitely see what you mean, the focus is on women and the only real central male figure is the corpse of a man whom we get the sense deserved to die. But, to me at least, that wasnt a "message" of the film, just how the story happened to work out. The subtexts and real "art" of the film was something that can be appreciated by anyone. Almodovar's focus on Penelope Cruz's body certainly didnt hurt either. For a gay man, he certainly enjoys the female figure quite a bit.

there's no place you can be that isn't where you're meant to be.

Just because there was a couple of males with poor or non-existing morals doesn't mean that's what the film is about. I wouldn't have even thought about it if I hadn't seen your post. Some of the woman in this film aren't exactly role models either! One burns a house down with people in it and another covers up a murder! If you think of it that way it pretty much balances out.

Yes, that's pretty much the point of the movie. Women are only evil when they retaliate against the evil men do, that's what Volver is trying to say.

You don't need to presume, the voting breakdown is here; http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0441909/ratings?ref_=tt_ov_rt.
But to answer your question, no. I didn't view it as a "female dominated fil that portrays men as cheats", I just viewed it as a film and this one in particular happened to be dominated by females. It doesn't just portray men as cheats either, in my opinion anyway. There were a couple of bad men in it but there a couple of good ones too, the restaurant owner and the guy in the film crew. The most important man was the dad who wasn't alive for most of it and he was a despicable man, but the film didn't say all men are like that as your question suggests. But it also wasn't that surprising due to me seeing a few of Almodovar's films before and his representations of men never seem to be in a positive light, I read that it's due to him living as a gay man under Franco.
Also, how men are represented shouldn't be the thing to focus on but rather how their representation fits the plot. If it is purposely done in a way to insult men then that may be something different but I never felt that was present here.

No.
It is simply a female dominated film that tells a story.
There are many so for men that portray women as weak and dismissable...

Not really. It never even crossed my mind that there were no male protagonists. I just see story and this happened to have no men involved. Not that big of a deal. If anything the film paints the women as having poor taste in men. More like women are attracted to cheats rather than men being cheats.
