Bailee Madison's Character? **Spoilers Wanted***

Is she the child they - presumably Salma Hayek and Jared Leto - kill in the end scene? I have read about it on various posts and just wondered...is she? Are the murders shown in particularly gory/brutal manners, particularly that of the child's?

They don't show them killing the child. The first murder they show is pretty bad . The child is there , then after the police arrive you realize she not there anymore. They find her but it doesn't go into any details about what happened.

It's actually done very eerily and -- in my opinion -- very well.
They sort of build up that Martha and Ray are getting sick of her, show the kid crying and Martha yelling with Ray looking on and everything is muted, Martha draws a 'bath,' and they intercut shots of water dripping in the bath, the dog outside barking, the unmanned tricycle.
It's all suggested. Well done though, I thought. The movie is already graphic and brutal enough; no need to show the kid getting killed, or the kid's corpse ala 'Trainspotting.'

*Of course, this was posted like 2 years ago so I imagine you've seen it by now, and this is likely all irrelevant.

I've very glad they didn't graphically show the giry dying. I know many people consider filmmakers to be brave to do it, but I just can't handle child deaths.

The real Bailee Madison was only two years old and died horrifically. She was first strangeled, but didn't die. Then they ended up drowing her in a basin of water. And it was because they little girl wouldn't stop crying for her mother.

We get murdered before we leave the building, and I imagine we get fed to the pigs.
