I only watched it to see Doug Jones as Cesare.

And he was fantastic, as I had hoped. He wasn't quite the same as the original Cesare played by Conrad Veidt, but Doug Jones brought the character to life in his own way.

The rest of it was a joke. The acting was awful. Francis was the least concinving of all. His performance at the end of the film was *okay*, but nowhere near good enough to redeem himself for the rest of it. Though I have to give credit to Daamen J. Krall; he certainly got Caligari's facial expressions right. Anyone agree? I mean, I just don't understand what David Lee Fisher was thinking when he made this film. Did he really think he could make it better by adding sound? Your thoughts.

I was overall disappointed with it as well, especially because of the acting. The performance actor who played Francis was the hardest to watch. (I laughed out loud at some of his deliveries, and that sniveling expression he seemed to love so much confused me at times.) I was very disappointed with Doug Jones's interpretation of the role of Cesare, though. He wasn't scary or creepy at all; the imitation of the original's makeup style appeared clownish, in combination with that goofy stare and the lack of the graininess in the film, appeared clownish. The creepiest part was when he was leaning over Jane as she slept. The idea of adding sound intrigued me, but I didn't care much for the poor script. The best part of this remake for me was that I finally learned how to pronounce "Cesare".
