Now, admittedly, I haven't seen this yet. But really, why?! There was no need to remake this!

No need, maybe. But a deep wish on the director/writer's part? Why not? Look at King Kong - no need to do it, but they did. T'was good. So is this.

It was already remade in the 60's get over it.

Sure there was (a need to remake this). I didn't see the original and enjoyed this one just fine. Cool story...
