You people are asinine.

"oh wahh someone made a modern version of a movie i like WAHHHHH" - the general populace on this board.

This is an excellent version of the Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. Besides the instance where Cesare didn't mix well into the wall shadow as he had in the original iteration there are very few flaws at all with this.

The soundtrack, while not remarkable, certainly enhances the mood compared to watching something for over an hour with NO SOUND. Yes, I know this is a facet of silent films and no, I do not care. I like hearing things. It's nice to be able to use more than one sense when I'm watching a movie. I also like not having a film cut away to a black screen with nothing but dialogue on it. That's not how a movie should be seen.

The dialogue could be better, I admit. So what? The original text of the film is, to be frank, horrendous and illogical. The scriptwriters were basically forced to edit it so that it would make sense when you say it aloud because it simply does not work unless it's in text.

The amount of effort put into this work should be commended. If you watch the original film and this side by side you simply would be wrong to say that watching the original is a more enjoyable experience, nostalgia aside.

So quit the whining about how your film has been "ruined" and open up to new things instead of being a conservative ignorant. And especially don't bother to open your mouth if you haven't even SEEN the movie itself and you simply watched a freaking trailer!!!

Not having any sound was actually never a facet of silent films.

They were always shown with a live or prerecorded musical score.

During the silent film era, no one sat and watched movies in silence.
