So did Margret dumb down her act....or is she just this dumb?

I've seen probably all of Margret's live specials (the three DVD/movie concerts and the 1993 Comedy Central used to air pretty often) as well as live in person, so I know the answer. What happened here? Margret is intelligent and humorous but this movie is just a boring accept and love everyone piece of garbage. It's basically "Romy and Michelle" (complete with Alan Cumming as a love interest) but using Margret's comedy to punch things up....only it's not even as good as R&M, and considering that movie wasn't great, that's really saying something! R&M, even as a kooky comedy felt more natural and it's emotional moments felt slightly more real. Here, when you get to the moment where Margret and Bruce tell everyone they are beautiful, you're stunned that you wasted your time thinking there was the possibility of depth to the movie. They almost tricked you!

I was wondering why Margret hasn't released a comedy DVD recently and this is the answer? She isn't a bad actress....She's actually a lot more natural on "All American Girl" but here, playing this character, she is terrible playing this sad sack (the only time she comes alive is when she says things that show Margret's act...and of course she is great playing "Mommy"). And Bruce Daniels, who is a good comedian (I saw him open for her) is even worse playing some kind of combination of a flamboyant gay hairdresser and a five year old with ADHD. If you're a Cho fan, beware! This almost lowers my opinion on her altogether.

What's wrong with the message that everyone is beautiful?

I don't know about you, but I wish that message was in more movies these days.
