Not new, just comparatively new to the US. There was a long time when it either was not or could not be imported. Most deli's do not have this. Gourmet shops, cheese shops, and stores specializing in Spanish food would.
sharea nice serrano ham nicely cut (for slices) does the job. and much cheaper! tho, of those type euro hams. a prosciutto piccolo is my favorite.
