Anyone else thinks this ahole deserved to be an Iron Chef

I was super pissed when i learned Geoffrey Zakarian won the next Iron Chef title especially when i saw him miss using a few ingredients when he competed on Chopped All-stars and learning that he has several lawsuits against him for not paying his kitchen staff etc etc. I thought Michael Chiarello deserved it all the way...

reply

He didn't miss any ingredients on Chopped, he just chose to only use the breast of his duck. That choice COULD have gotten him chopped, but it didn't, at least not in that round. So far he is 2 for 2 as an Iron Chef.

I was almost certain he was on NIC just for filler. That being said, I'd rather watch him than Forgione anyday.

I was rooting for Chef Elizabeth Falkner.

I also think Iron Chef Zakarian had some pull over Alex Guaranshelli winning the title of Iron Chef from the Redemption series. I really wanted Amanda Frietag to win but since Alex has been Geoffrey's Judge-buddy on "Chopped!" (like Amanda) as well as being his sous chef on Iron Chef America (unlike Amanda) until she became an Iron Chef on her own.
I think Amanda (and Elizabeth) were robbed.

Glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. I feel both times it was uber-nepotism. Especially in the last one where Zakarian was the judge and was smirking like an evil clown every time he knocked Faulkner down a few pegs. I thought he was very disingenuous with his judging and his intentions.

I agree with Fiero I don't think Guarneshelli is half as awesome as she thinks she is.

reply

Well from watching her compete on several competitions, and the critiques of most of her judges, Guarneschelli IS as good as she thinks. She may be a Smart Alex, see what I did there, see what I did? But she's pretty good. I give her props. Just sayin'.

I do agree, I can't stand Zakarian, and Murphy. Both douchebags IMO.

I also thought Faulkner & Freytag should have won NICA, or at least have their own shows on the network.

He actually got into an argument with a senior chef; pretty one sided with Dale losing his mind! What an idiot!

Was this when Dale was brought in to help as a sous chef for Michael Chiarello (sp?) on Top Chef Masters? I remember that! I'm not too big on neither of them but it was very disrespectful of Dale to argue Michael. It got to the point where I'm glad that Dale lost his Top Chef season as well as losing an Iron Chef Battle

Back to regarding Alex: on twitter she blocked me! Before that, she was nice enough to wish me a Happy Birthday last year as well as helping me IDing a vegetable I had trouble with. Then this past summer I found out through Cat's twitter that she was already back with Iron Chef of filming and I expressed my happiness over her return. I guess Alex doesn't like Cat or still holds a grudge that Cat beat her butt when she first battled? That was the only thing I could really think of that made Alex decide to block me. So now any respect for Alex I had (which was a lot) is now barely any. Talk about being insecure! These days I don't look at Alex the same way whenever I watch ICA or Chopped
I still think Amanda and Elizabeth were robbed. They are much more creative and talented as well as great chefs as Cat.

Chiarello was a huge jerk to both Dale Talde and Richard Blais, aggressively challenging/daring them to pronounce his last name correctly.

Also, this was before Dale took stock of himself and signed up for anger management. When he returned for Top Chef All Stars, he was an entirely different person and has maintained a more polished, in-control persona ever since.

I'd like to be a pessimist, but this is a luxury I cannot afford.
