Ok I watch the movie yesterday for the first time but I couldn't see it from the very beginning. Ok the thing is, Why did Ruy stay in Cuba and didn't go with his family at the end? It was so sad to see that and I don't find any reasonable meaning to this. Anyone?
shareRudy refused to agree to the contract offered by the Spanish producers because they wanted him to speak publicly about conditions in Cuba. He felt he would be used for political purposes; he only wanted a chance to play and sing his music.
Going to the US with his family offered even less of an opportunity to pursue a musical career. He would be without his band and in an English-speaking country. Furthermore, he and his wife had been divorced and would not be trogether as a family in the US.
With all that in mind, Rudy figured he would stay in Cuba and hope some other foreign producer would "discover" him. Yes, it was sad; but that was his choice.
