I don't think it is inspired on any specific story, I think that it was simply inspired by the many young, struggling and talented msuicians in Cuba. A brilliant film, no?

sharei don't know if this paritcular film is based on a specific case, but if you liked this, perhaps you might enjoy "east of havana" (2006) it's the account of three cuban rap stars reflecting on their lives and music while attempting to launch a hip-hop fest...in this film you will see the reality (it's a documentary) of what life is like for artists that don't conform to the present cuban system.
