Wow, looks like the star of predator 2 is back.

Nothing new, he's appeared in small roles in ultra low budget films like that repeatedly over the past decade. It's nothing new. And judging by the trailer he's going to spend all of his time sitting behind a desk.

Major Spoilers Ahead...

He's only in the film for about 5 minutes total and they do nothing with him in that time.

- He delivers an opening narration about Los Angeles, which has seemingly no tie-in with the actual film
- He assigns Don Wilson a new partner following the death of his old partner
- He takes thirty seconds to remind us he's still in the film by saying he'll find the mole in the police station
- He appears in a flashback consoling Don Wilson after the death of his father
- He shoots a female officer after being revealed to be the murderer of Wilson's father
- He reiterates part of his opening prologue, steps into a car, and gets blown up by a car bomb

If he literally appeared on film for more than a combined total of four minutes and thirty seconds, I'd be surprised. Make no mistake about it, he was looking to receive a small paycheck and the studio was looking to market him as being a part of the film. Nothing more. Personally, I'd have at least given him a grander exit. Seeing as he was revealed to have murdered the main character's father, and his presence was a major marketing point for the film, it made little sense to have him be the victim of betrayal and killed unceremoniously.

In the next scene, Don Wilson confronts the main villain at an airport. He pulls a gun on the villain from behind and orders him to drop his weapon. The villain does so, but them makes his escape when a henchman provides a distraction. This sets up the main fight aboard a helicopter. Personally, I'd have put Gary Busey in the scene alongside of the main villain and had him get shot trying to pull a fast one on Don Wilson. Gary Busey exchanges a few words, slowly lowers his gun to the ground, and then takes aim at Don Wilson. Don shoots first and Busey is dead. The villain takes the opportunity to make a run for it. It would have been just as simple and far more rewarding. The film would have still sucked, but a showdown between he and Wilson would have made it worth it. Gary Busey couldn't go toe to toe with Don, but he could still make use of a gun.
