Dermot Mulroney

Dermot Mulroney finally is playing a more serious role. It is nice to see actors and sctresses to take different kinds of roles. In his other movies he isn't that stern father figure type.

I wish I could agree with your line of thought but I found "D.M." to be the wrong selection for the role of "Gracie's" dad. He wasn't believable. As a matter of fact, I felt many of the castings were not suitable but thats just my thinking.

Who would you have cast then?

I think Dermot Mulroney did a very fine job. It's nice to see him have a starring role, which he very much deserves. He was well suited to be a Dad in this film. .........handsome, too.

I didn't care for him in this movie either. He doesn't look like a mover or a post soccer player. He looks real good in a suit but he does not look athletic to me. The gray in his hair doesn't match the life on/in his face.

well he didn't have to look athletic because his character in the movie blew out his knee when he was younger which is why he was so high on his son because he was living thru him. the one thing i didn't like about his character was he wasn't stern enough with his daughter whenever she messed up, which was quite a lot. he never really raised his voice when there were plenty of times he could have done so. his acting was fine and i thought him and the daughter played off of each other pretty well.

You have to remember though, that this movie is set in 1978, not present day.
