i got an idea lets make a movie about a guy who play female sports and then dominates, yeah thats a good idea. how about arod playing softball, or kobe plyaing in the wnba yeah that would be interesting. women constantly complain and moan about not having the same oppurtunities, we let them and thats not good evough, they gotta make a big deal about it make a movie put it on the news and everything. we make a big deal about michelle wie playin with men on the tour but she has yet to ever qualify, whoooo cares!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This movie takes place back when there weren't soccer teams for girls. It is a big deal that you have to fight the school board to be allowed to play a sport, just because of your gender. You name a sport that's just for girls and that doesn't have men participating, either with the girls or on their own male team. If men want to be a gymnast, there's no problem, same with figure skating, cheerleading, etc. If my daughter wanted to play football, soccer or golf, it would be an uphill battle because our district has no female teams for these sports.

what? like sounds like some solid bs. there probably isnt teams because there is not demand for teams. "hey one girl wants to play a sport." wait does anyone else? no "ok well... lets start a league which will cost thousands of dollars. "but wait where will we get the other girls to play, none do". its ridiculous.
you know why guys leagues are formed so easily? theres a demand and, and lets not forget the only issue of a guy joining a girls section or league, is that he will kick thier butts in the sport. where a girl could not join the guys league in say hockey (especially contact and especially as people get older) and football, and rugby. the girls would probably be literally killed. in other sports too

Actually, that's not the case, at least not where I am. There has been a lot of interest from the girls in our district in the golf and soccer areas. However, the district has sunk all of their money into getting a football program up and running, that the girls have once again been left by the side.

For the most part, football supports the other sports. If the high school football team does well and draws fans, it will help boost the budgets for the other sports as well.
The leader of our otherwise all male hockey team was female. She also started our team and won districts for them. Plus she was effin' nice, and so modest she was frazzled when I interviewed her for the school paper. Yeah, so TOTALLY got owned in an "all male" sport. Jerk.
Or maybe the girls don't want to do it, because they don't want to be made fun of for wanting to. There are many girls who want say anything or people for that matter (men wanting to learn how to be designers or things that don't see masculine)because of what others would think. Girls making fun of girls for not doing this or that or guys making fun of guys for doing this or that that isn't what is the role of a so called gender.
Plus many people need to get out of the wests ideas about gender as it's constructed anyway and different where ever you go.
Or the idea that you couldn't do anything because you are a girl. It always tripped me out how many of the fathers are the reason that girls valued education, learned how to do things on their own like changing a tire etc., but then men will bitch because a woman does something that a man does.
I think a line from a movie (can't remember the book adaptation)where a little girl tells her mother that men can go out looking for adventure etc., but girls/women have to wait for the adventure comes to them.
oaktownk3 says: (not very eloquently I might add) i got an idea lets make a movie about a guy who play female sports and then dominates, yeah thats a good idea. how about arod playing softball, or kobe plyaing in the wnba yeah that would be interesting. women constantly complain and moan about not having the same oppurtunities, we let them and thats not good evough, they gotta make a big deal about it make a movie put it on the news and everything. we make a big deal about michelle wie playin with men on the tour but she has yet to ever qualify, whoooo cares!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I say:
Hey oaktownk3, I've got an idea-- How about you go back to school and learn to write using proper grammar and spelling. And while you're at it, try taking a few lessons on how to shed your male chauvinist attitude. Reread your posting, look in the mirror and ask yourself do you really want to be you?
Is that you're only argument in this thread, insulting someone's grammar? Well you ain't got none argument against thy then.
I'm sick of all this crap about men and woman being equal, lets be honest, they're not. The average man and woman are completely different than each other on a physical and emotional level. I'm not saying one is better than the other in general, I'm just saying that theres certain things women do better than men and vice versa.
The fact that theres a movie about a girl playing soccer with boys (when its a movie a women infiltrating the boys it's uplifting, but when it's the opposite it's a comedy) and it's supposed to be a big deal should be a big enough clue.
Now that's just ignorant. I mean seriously the dumbest thing I've seen yet. White people all over the world aren't the same either as the same thing with black people asians, because duh there are different cultures.
When you think about it, it's not even just women in movies like this. I have no clue where you're from but in the US of A there are so many movies about us as the underdogs defeating the British, or about mentally/physically challenged people running track or something. I don't think the movie is trying to put men down or make women seem more dominant. I personally think that it shows the struggle that women had to go through to gain the same rights as men overall. It is a fact that women had to go through more and 'prove' to others that they could be equal to men (IE, vote, etc...). Women are just proud of what we've been able to accomplish, i'm sure men would be too.
I thought for sure I was going to come out of the theatre laughing my balls off, but it actually wasnt all that bad. Carly Schroeder did an excellent job. I mean, I thought she was amazing in Mean Creek, but I just figured it was a fluke.
Boy was a I wrong.
Although I would have enjoyed a tiny bit more blood. Dermot Mulroney looked too much like a serial killer. I thought for sure he was going to turn out to be a murderer. Or maybe I was just hoping for it..
But it wasnt all that bad. I liked it better than Mr. Brooks.
