Taiko's response to him is the only one that matters.
She was willing to accept him back, UNTIL, she realized that he actually set fire to matsunami's home. That was something horrible. That was malicious. That had surpassed anything that Kanta had done through the whole series. He even admits it himself, it was horrible.
Hes selfish, hes crafty...but he wasnt a cold blooded killer.
So Kanta is NOT the same guy.
So what side he was on really didnt matter. What side taiko was one really didnt matter. Taiko could not be on his side, no matter who they fought for.
When kanta reveils that Kaizuka is not in it for the people, i naturally went "oh yea, Kanta is on the right side, and everyones going to turn on Kaizuka". That didnt happen...which left me feeling like the anime was unfinished.
And it was.
The ending, although clever...leaves something to be desired. Yes, Kanta sucks, but thats not how a story ends. There was no resolution.
