A comment on a user review

rdn_blue wrote a good review here, with which I mostly agree.
But I want to add a few things.

The title translation to "Desert Punk" is an odd translation of the original title as well (Sunabozu meaning, roughly, "Sand Monk".)

While "monk" is the original meaning of "bozu", here it doesn't mean it.

"Bozu" is a slang that roughly means "kid", often actually means "naughty kid".
So I think "desert punk" is a good translation.

There was a period when most Japanese kids shaved their heads like Buddhist monk, so adults called them "bozu".
(Likewise, "bozu-atama", literally "monk's head", means "shaven head" in Japanese.)

The opening and ending music initially seem like very odd choices, but they fit the series.

If the songs were not changed in American version,
I don't know why he/she called the opening song "very odd choice"
but can understand about the end title song (for the first part of the series).

That "drawing song" is (like many other things in this show) a parody of a well known end title song of an old anime show called "Shin Obake no Q-taro".

You can see it here (in a slightly edited way): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eiO0Y9K4zTs
